Hyperion v1.1.0 Release Notes
Released June 29, 2026.
Hyperion v1.1.0 builds on v1.0.0 with a reworked volume control that feels smoother from every source, corrected analog routing on the models with RCA outputs, a refreshed on-device front panel, and a clearer System Settings page. It ships alongside updated companion firmware for the MCU, FPGA, DSP2, and the front-panel display.

What's New
Output Levels and Clip Detection
This release changes how output levels and clipping are handled. Here is what you may notice:
- The default output runs a little hotter than v1.0.0. With no Dirac filter loaded, audio now passes through at exact unity, so nothing is lost on the way to the speakers.
- A new clip indicator is on by default. It is informational only and never mutes or changes the sound. Because the default level is hotter, a clip warning can now appear where it never did before. The warning names the affected speaker and, where the firmware can estimate it, the approximate frequency.
- Subwoofer and LFE channels are no longer pulled down by 10 dB when HALE bass management is on, so subs play louder than before at the same settings.
If a system sounds hotter than before, or shows a new clip warning, lower the affected output or input level to taste.
Volume Control Rework
A single volume engine now drives every change. Turn the front-panel knob, press a remote, drag the web slider, or send an RS-232 or telnet command, and the level glides smoothly to its target. A single step lands right away; a fast spin of the knob is lightly smoothed so the level no longer jumps or overshoots, and the on-screen number tracks the change without flicker.
DPR-16 gains a volume range tuned to its digital output (up to 20 dB of added headroom) with a corrected decibel readout.
Output Assignment Improvements
On the Output Assignment page in the web interface:
- The Limited / Full Range control now acts only on the output you change. It previously also flipped the paired stereo channel.
- A load failure now shows a clear error with a retry option instead of an empty-looking grid, and assigned outputs are easier to tell apart from unassigned ones.
Analog Output Corrections (APR-16 and RCV-11)
Two corrections land on the models with RCA analog outputs:
- RCA outputs 13 and 15 were swapped, and outputs 14 and 16 were swapped. The new FPGA firmware (1.0.8.0) routes each jack to its intended channel.
- Per-channel level trims were applied to the partner channel within each stereo pair (the trim for channel 1 landed on channel 2, channel 3 on channel 4, and so on). The new MCU firmware (1.0.2.0) applies each trim to the correct channel.
If you previously worked around either issue, by swapping cables, remapping routing, or entering a trim on the neighboring channel, remove that workaround after updating. Otherwise the outputs will be wrong.
Dirac Calibration Improvements
- Stereo (2.0) layouts now offer all three Dirac Live filter slots, the same as multichannel layouts.
- The calibration sweep now follows the master volume and can only quieten, so a low volume produces a quieter sweep.
- A reboot or update during calibration no longer leaves the unit stuck refusing to switch inputs.
- The measurement health check no longer cancels a healthy measurement that is still running.
- HAA calibration audio now plays through the processor on every model, and is audible on DPR-16 for the first time.
- A factory reset with "Preserve Dirac Calibration" unchecked now fully clears the calibration, the speaker layout, and the stored Dirac project.
On-Device Music Player
The USB and on-device music player is rebuilt. A new Playback Output Mode sends music to All Channels (the default) or to Front Stereo Only, and the choice takes effect on the next track. Volume and mute now apply cleanly while music plays, and browsing the root folder of a drive no longer fails.
HDMI Firmware Updater
The HDMI firmware updater in the web interface gained an on-unit firmware selector, so you can choose a file you already uploaded without uploading it again, plus a drag-and-drop area. Re-uploading a file with the same name now replaces it instead of returning an error. After an HDMI firmware install the unit restarts its MCU so the new firmware takes effect, and the connection drops briefly while it restarts.
System Settings Refresh
The System Settings page now shows firmware status at a glance ("Up to date" or "N updates available") as soon as you open it, so you can tell whether a unit needs attention without starting a check. The page is restyled for clarity: the on-state color for toggles across the app moves from green to Hyperion Blue, a few controls are renamed or removed, and the Check for Updates action is restyled. Remote support now has its own page, reached from the Configuration and Support section.
Front-Panel Display Refresh
These changes are on the on-device front-panel touchscreen, the screen on the unit itself. They are not the web interface, which you reach over the network in a browser.
- One software image now drives every model and shows the right panel for each unit automatically.
- The unit's network address appears under the input name, so you can find the web interface address at a glance.
- On the touch models (APR-16 and RCV-11), tap the input name to open a quick source picker, and tap the volume number to jump straight to volume controls.
- The screen has a quieter, more consistent look, and the level meter rests at its floor during silence instead of reading as unavailable.
- New display modes let an installer lock touch input, blank the screen after an idle period, or hold the display dark for rack use.
- On APR-16 and RCV-11, you can set the unit's network address (DHCP, or a fixed static IP with subnet, gateway, and DNS) from the panel itself by touch. This is the on-device panel, separate from the network page in the web interface. DPR-16 is display-only, so set its network address from the web interface or a control system.
- The panel stays connected through network changes and re-links its readouts within a few seconds if the software restarts.
- Idle rendering is much lighter, so the panel runs cooler when nothing is happening.
DPR-16 introduces a new compact display-only panel.
Discrete IR Power Commands
Control systems can now send dedicated power-on and power-off IR commands alongside the existing power toggle, so a macro can set a known power state instead of toggling without knowing the current state.
Stronger Default Security
Root login over SSH is now key-only by default. Password login to the root account no longer works, and the setting is re-applied on every restart. A management interface lets support add an authorized key to a unit in the field without a rebuild.
Fixes & Improvements
Audio & Filtering
- Live crossover edits on the Output Assignment page (high-pass and low-pass frequency and order, and the range toggle) now apply reliably and in order.
- Lowered the low-frequency noise floor through a rewritten filter core. The frequency response and level are unchanged.
- The EQ page now opens on the first configured output, so an EQ edit targets the speaker shown on screen rather than an empty channel.
- Volume changes can no longer be frozen by a busy serial link or a filter transfer, and that condition no longer stalls shutdown.
Volume & Mute
- The decibel readout no longer drops to its minimum (-127.5 dB) after a restart while the percentage stays correct.
- DPR-16: volume no longer drifts to 0 on its own, power-on no longer jumps loud, the unit stays muted while powered off, and CEC volume from a TV remote now changes the level.
Stability
- The unit reaches the web interface sooner after a restart, by removing delays on the startup path that were not needed to serve the interface.
- Log files no longer grow without bound. Disk cleanup that had stopped running is restored, which also keeps the disk clear for updates.
- The firmware crash-recovery notice is now backed by a log stored on the unit: the newest event appears as a banner, and past events are listed and clearable, instead of a single notice kept only in the browser.
- Dante audio is steadier in everyday use. A housekeeping task no longer removes a live Dante control socket, and the audio bridge restarts itself if the Dante container is restarted outside Atlas.
- The front panel no longer freezes during a fast volume spin, because Atlas now runs across two processor cores rather than one.
- A factory reset restores Dante automatically instead of coming back with it switched off.
- Graceful shutdown no longer waits about 30 seconds before stopping.
- The MCU self-heals from a memory error in its version storage that could previously stop it from booting, and a healthy MCU that cannot reach the host is no longer pushed toward a recovery state.
HDMI / EDID / Display
- A corrupt or partial display (TV) reading is now rejected, and the unit holds the last known-good data instead of letting a bad reading reach the HDMI inputs and cause a black screen or dropped audio. Every input always carries a video block, so a connected source never stops sending picture.
Network
- Over RS-232 or IP control, NET DHCP and NET RESET now actually switch a statically configured unit to DHCP, and the reported method reflects the live setting.
- The Dante receive latency floor is now 3 ms. The 1 ms and 2 ms options are removed, and the default is 3 ms.
- Reduced unnecessary network activity from neighboring devices that are not the gateway.
Web Interface
- After an update, an already-open browser tab refreshes itself once to pick up the new version, so wall-mounted and kiosk displays no longer stay on an old build.
- The main dashboard is refreshed for the brand look, accessibility, and quicker page transitions, and an offline unit no longer leaves you stuck on the loading screen.
- On the home page, the bottom bar no longer repeats the volume and input controls that already sit in the cards at the top of that page. Every other page keeps the full bottom bar.
- The Speaker Arrangement dropdown now updates after Grid View edits instead of showing a stale layout until reload.
- The clipping banner and the connection banner now animate in and out consistently.
- On DPR-16, the input pickers no longer list inputs the unit does not have.
Control
- The unit's model (APR-16, RCV-11, or DPR-16) is now detected by the MCU and read by Atlas, so a unit identifies itself and corrects model-specific behavior on its own. The separate command to set the model has been removed.
- The unit keeps its clock in step with the system time when another service on the unit sets the time zone.
Front Panel
These are on the on-device front-panel touchscreen, not the web interface.
- On APR-16, fixed a fault that could leave the panel black at high processor load. Atlas now brings the panel up on the correct graphics backend.
- The input chooser opens without an initial stutter, and calibration-only inputs are hidden in the source pickers.
- The large volume number eases to its new value instead of snapping.
- The startup splash is gentler on the hardware, with no change to how it looks.
- The screensaver visualizer rests still during silence, so an idle unit stays cool.
- The header clock is always shown.
Platform Foundations
Firmware Installation Safety Checks
Firmware installation gains safety checks: a unit refuses a withdrawn firmware image and stops safely if it cannot confirm an image is still trusted. The update platform is also hardened. Scheduled automatic installation is switched off.

The Remote Support page under System Settings is opt-in per unit: when you allow it, AVPro Global support can connect to a single unit to help diagnose an issue.
